Ikorodu Residents Cry Out as Torrential Rainfall Wrecks Homes and Streets
A severe downpour in the early hours of today has left Ikorodu, a densely populated area in Lagos State, in chaos as floodwaters surged through homes, streets, and marketplaces, leaving destruction in their wake.
Residents were seen wading through waist-deep water, clutching belongings, and shouting for help as the flood submerged cars, destroyed household items, and collapsed fences and makeshift structures.
“Our houses are gone, we have nowhere to sleep!” one woman cried in a viral video shared online.
“This happens every year, and nothing changes. Government, please help us!” another resident pleaded.
