In an atmosphere filled with grief and reverence, family members, friends, football fans, and international stars gathered on Friday at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar in Portugal to say a final goodbye to Diogo Jota and his younger brother André Silva, who died in a fatal car crash the day before.

According to reports, Jota and André Silva died instantly when their Lamborghini Huracán suffered a suspected tyre blowout and caught fire in Zamora, north-west Spain. The sports car was found engulfed in flames, with emergency crews unable to save the occupants.

As candles flickered outside the church and black armbands were worn across matches in Portugal and England, fans and fellow professionals shared memories and tributes online, celebrating Jota’s contributions to club and country.
