Military Says 41 Insurgents Neutralized in Intense Clashes

On Friday, suspected jihadists launched a double coordinated attack near Niger’s western border with Burkina Faso, killing 10 soldiers and injuring several others.

The assaults targeted military positions in the Tillabéri region, an area plagued by insurgent activity linked to ISIS and al-Qaeda affiliates.

Nigerien authorities reported that 41 of the attackers were killed in response by the army during fierce counter-offensives.
