Iran’s Underground Nuclear Site Damaged by Strikes; Trump Warns Tehran
Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated dramatically, with recent developments highlighting the severity of the conflict.
Israeli Strikes Damage Iran’s Natanz Nuclear Facility
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that Israeli airstrikes directly impacted Iran’s underground uranium enrichment facility at Natanz. High-resolution satellite imagery revealed visible damage to the underground enrichment halls, indicating significant disruption to Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Prior assessments had suggested only above-ground facilities were affected, but the new evidence points to more extensive damage.
Additionally, Israeli strikes have caused destruction at Iran’s Isfahan nuclear site, including a critical plant used for uranium preparation. However, the Fordow facility appears largely undamaged.
Trump Urges Immediate Evacuation of Tehran
In response to the escalating situation, former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning, advising that Tehran should be evacuated “immediately.” He emphasized the urgency of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and criticized Iran’s rejection of a proposed nuclear deal, which he claimed could have saved lives. Trump’s comments came amid intensified Israeli airstrikes targeting key infrastructure in Tehran, including a state TV station.
Escalating Conflict and Regional Impact
The conflict has led to significant civilian displacement, with massive traffic jams reported as thousands attempt to flee Tehran. Iran has retaliated with missile attacks on Israeli targets, causing casualties and damage despite Israel’s Iron Dome defense system. The United Nations has called for restraint, and Western leaders are urging de-escalation to prevent further regional instability.
