Portuguese forward and his brother killed in high-speed accident in Spain
Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota has tragically died at the age of 28 following a ghastly car accident in Zamora, Spain. The crash occurred in the early hours of July 3, 2025, when a tyre burst caused the Lamborghini he was travelling in—alongside his brother, André Silva—to veer off the road and catch fire. Both died instantly.
Jota, recently married and father to three young children, had played 182 matches for Liverpool, scoring 65 goals, and earned 49 caps for the Portugal national team.
The football world is mourning the loss of one of its brightest stars. Liverpool FC, the Portuguese Football Federation, and global football legends have paid heartfelt tributes. UEFA has also announced a minute’s silence in his honor ahead of upcoming matches.
