Portuguese striker and his brother killed instantly after high-speed accident in Spain
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died at the age of 28 following a ghastly car accident in Zamora, Spain, alongside his brother André Silva. The crash occurred in the early hours of July 3, 2025, when a tyre burst caused their Lamborghini to veer off the A-52 motorway and burst into flames.
Jota, who had recently married in June and was a father of three, made 182 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 65 goals, and earned 49 caps for Portugal.
Clubs, teammates, and fans around the world have paid tribute, with UEFA confirming a minute of silence ahead of Portugal’s next match. Liverpool FC also confirmed the news with a statement describing the club as “devastated.”
