Nigeriaโs African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership has formally resigned to make way for ex-Senate President David Mark as interim National Chairman and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as interim National Secretary. The move, announced Wednesday at the Shehu Musa YarโAdua Centre in Abuja by ADC founder Ralph Nwosu, is part of a broader strategy to reposition the party as the core platform for a unified opposition coalition targeting the 2027 presidential election .

All existing ADC leaders โvoluntarily resignedโ to allow Mark & Aregbesola to take over, as Nwosu explained: โWe all decided to resign so that Mark, Aregbesola and others can lead us to the Villa.โ
The ADC unveiling comes in conjunction with the launch of a broad opposition alliance including figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, aiming to mount a formidable challenge to President Bola Tinubuโs administration in 2027 .
