DDG Allowed Supervised Visits with Son Halo in Italy Amid Ongoing Custody Dispute

Rapper and YouTuber DDG, whose legal name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., has been granted court approval to visit his 18-month-old son, Halo, in Italy from July 1 to July 3, 2025, following a contentious custody dispute with ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey. The Los Angeles family court ruling, finalized on June 26, allows DDG to see Halo in Rome, where Bailey is filming a movie until August 4, but under strict conditions to ensure the child’s safety and privacy.

Judge Latrice A.G. Byrdsong approved DDG’s request for visitation, deeming it “reasonable,” but rejected his proposal for his mother, Tonya-Yvette Granberry, to supervise, citing concerns from Bailey’s legal team that she had “enabled” DDG’s alleged past abusive behavior. Instead, the court mandated that visits be overseen by Bailey’s nanny and private security team, acting as neutral professional monitors. Visitation is restricted to 9 am to 6 pm daily, with no overnight stays permitted, and DDG must remain within a three-mile radius of Bailey’s hotel. He is also barred from posting photos, videos, or any content about Halo on social media during the visit, aligning with Bailey’s concerns about their son’s privacy.

The decision follows a heated legal battle, with Bailey securing temporary sole custody of Halo in May 2025 after alleging physical and emotional abuse by DDG, including an incident in January that left her with bruises and a chipped tooth. DDG, who denies the claims, filed a countersuit alleging Bailey’s mental instability and sought to prevent her from taking Halo to Italy, a request denied by the court. Bailey’s legal filings emphasized that DDG had not provided consistent financial support for Halo and noted her contractual obligation to film in Rome, her primary income source for their son’s care.

Both legal teams struggled to find a professional monitor in Rome, leading Bailey to offer her nanny and security, a compromise DDG accepted despite his unsuccessful request to bar the nanny from testifying in future hearings. Posts on X captured public sentiment, with some users praising the court’s balanced approach, while others, like @KillaKreww, noted DDG’s emotional anticipation, quoting him saying July 1 would be “the best day of his life” after nearly four months apart from Halo.

The visitation ruling marks a step toward structured co-parenting, though tensions remain high. A remote mediation is scheduled for August 8, with the next court hearing on August 20 to address ongoing custody arrangements. The case continues to draw attention, highlighting the complexities of high-profile co-parenting disputes.
