The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly selected three potential successors in case he is assassinated during Israel’s ongoing military campaign — a revelation that signals unprecedented urgency within Iran’s highest leadership.
Significantly, Khamenei’s influential son, Mojtaba — who has long been rumored to be groomed for the role — was not included in the shortlist.
“Khamenei has nominated three clerics as potential successors while hiding in a bunker… Mojtaba is not among them,” The New York Times reported, citing confidential Iranian sources close to the leadership.
