Chris Brown in Court to Enter Plea on ‘Bottle Attack’ Charge
On June 20, 2025, Chris Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London to enter a plea regarding a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abraham Diaw in an alleged bottle attack at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London, on February 19, 2023. The 36-year-old R&B singer, accompanied by his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu (known as HoodyBaby), attended the plea and trial preparation hearing. Brown, who was freed on conditional bail of £5 million (approximately $6.7 million) on May 21, 2025, after his arrest in Manchester, is accused of striking Diaw multiple times with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle, causing severe injuries, including lacerations to the head and torn ligaments in the leg, as detailed in a lawsuit filed by Diaw in October 2023. The incident was reportedly captured on surveillance footage. Brown, wearing a dark blue suit, arrived silently amidst photographers. His bail conditions allow him to continue his Breezy Bowl XX world tour, which began on June 8 in Amsterdam, but he must surrender his passport when not touring, reside at a court-approved UK address, and avoid contact with Diaw or the nightclub. Neither Brown nor Akinlolu have entered a plea yet, and the case remains ongoing.
