Israel Claims Air Supremacy Over Tehran Amidst Escalating Conflict
Israel has declared “aerial superiority” over Tehran following a series of intensive airstrikes that have significantly disrupted Iran’s military capabilities. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported destroying over 120 surface-to-surface missile launchers and 10 command centers of Iran’s Quds Force, effectively neutralizing a third of Iran’s missile launchers. This achievement allows Israeli aircraft to operate over Tehran without facing significant threats .
The operation, known as Operation Rising Lion, commenced on June 13 and involved coordinated airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities, including the Natanz and Fordow nuclear sites. Additionally, Israeli F-35 fighter jets entered Iranian airspace for the first time, conducting precision strikes on targets near Tehran .
In response, Iran launched a new wave of missile attacks on Israel, resulting in at least five civilian deaths and over 500 injuries. One missile struck near the U.S. consulate in Tel Aviv, causing minor damage but no casualties.
The conflict has led to significant civilian displacement in Tehran, with many residents fleeing the capital due to the ongoing airstrikes . International concerns are rising, with the United States warning of potential involvement if American interests are targeted, and global powers urging for diplomatic resolutions .
