Scorching Weekend Ahead for Parts of UK
A significant heatwave is set to affect parts of the UK this weekend, with temperatures expected to reach the low 30s°C across England and Wales. High pressure from the Azores is bringing warm, settled, and sunny weather, leading to what could be the first heatwave of the year. The Met Office has issued an amber alert for extreme heat from Thursday through Sunday, covering most of southern and central England, as well as Wales and some northern areas. This warning indicates a potential risk to health, particularly for vulnerable individuals .
Temperatures are forecasted to rise steadily through the week, with some areas potentially reaching 33°C by Saturday. London is expected to experience the highest temperatures, with highs around 31°C, while other regions, including the East Midlands and West Midlands, may see temperatures in the upper 20s°C .
The heatwave is expected to bring plenty of sunshine and dry conditions across much of the UK, with high or very high UV levels. However, some regions may experience cloudier conditions, occasional rain, and strong winds, particularly in the northwest.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and check on vulnerable individuals during this period of extreme heat.
