Musk Warned by Trump Over Democratic Support

President Donald Trump has warned Elon Musk of “very serious consequences” if the billionaire supports Democratic candidates in future elections. This warning follows a public rift between the two, which began after Musk criticized Trump’s “big beautiful bill,” a major fiscal package that extends tax cuts, boosts defense and border funding, and repeals green-energy tax credits introduced under President Biden. Musk had previously donated over $275 million to Trump’s 2024 campaign and played a significant role in the Republican victory.
In retaliation, Trump threatened to cancel government contracts with Musk’s companies and dismissed attempts at reconciliation. The situation escalated when Musk accused Trump of withholding Epstein-related files, an allegation Trump dismissed as “old news.” Trump has since stated that he does not wish to reconcile with Musk and has ended any prospects for repairing their relationship
The feud has also had economic repercussions. Tesla shares fell 15% following the public fallout, and Musk’s companies are facing increased scrutiny from both federal regulators and Democratic lawmakers. Democrats have introduced legislation to prevent Musk from accessing the Treasury payments system and are challenging Trump’s funding freezes in court.
Despite Musk’s recent deletion of controversial posts and a potential attempt to soften his tone, the relationship between Trump and Musk remains strained, with both sides signaling a deepening divide.
