David Beckham Finally to Be Knighted in King’s Birthday Honours
David Beckham is set to receive a knighthood in the upcoming King’s Birthday Honours list, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. At 50 years old, Beckham is celebrated not only for his exceptional football achievements but also for his extensive philanthropic efforts. His contributions have earned him recognition as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, where he has collaborated with King Charles III on various initiatives, including promoting youth engagement with nature and environmental stewardship.
Beckham’s journey to this honour has been marked by previous near-misses. Although he was first considered for a knighthood in 2011, the process was delayed due to his alleged involvement in a tax avoidance scheme, from which he was later cleared. He was previously awarded an OBE in 2003, but the knighthood eluded him until now.
