Double Offender: Fraudster and Wife Killer Sentenced for Contempt
Donald McPherson, a convicted fraudster, was cleared of the murder of his wife, Paula Leeson, who drowned in a swimming pool during a 2017 holiday in Denmark. However, in a civil case, a judge ruled that McPherson unlawfully killed her to claim her £4.4 million estate. The court found that McPherson had compressed her neck and placed her in the pool, motivated by financial gain. As a result, he was blocked from inheriting her estate and managing her insurance trusts. McPherson, believed to be residing in the South Pacific, did not attend the proceedings.
