Police Claim Kidnapped Afenifere Youth Leader Refused Debrief Invitation
The Nigerian Police Force has expressed concern over the lack of cooperation from Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the recently released President of the Afenifere Youth Council, who has reportedly not responded to invitations for a debriefing following his abduction and release. Ojajuni was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja. His abductors initially demanded a ransom of ₦100 million, later adding two tricycles to their demands. After 12 days in captivity, he was released on March 1, 2025, following the payment of at least ₦17 million by his family. Reports indicate that his wife personally delivered the ransom to the abductors in Akure.
During his captivity, Ojajuni sustained a gunshot wound to the buttock and is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed location for security reasons. The police had deployed the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to secure his release and are now seeking his cooperation to aid in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities emphasize that Ojajuni’s insights could be crucial in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators. They urge him to engage with law enforcement to ensure justice and prevent future incidents.
