The iPhone Scam: How Chinwetalu Agu Uncovered His Son’s N1 Million Lie
So, Nollywood icon Chinwetalu Agu asked his son how much he spent on his iPhone 13 Pro Max. The boy, brimming with confidence, responded:
“Just 180k, daddy.”
Uncle Chinwe calmly handed him the same amount and said, “Alright then, go and get one for me too.”
The boy returned — not with an iPhone, but with one random Itel phone that looked like it came as a bonus when you buy custard.
Smiling, he said,
“Daddy, forget the brand. This Itel is even better than an iPhone. Same camera. Same features.”
Uncle Chinwe blinked slowly, adjusted his wrapper, cleared his throat, and asked, “But your own has Apple logo, abi? Tell me the truth before I turn you into yam. How much is that your own?”
The boy replied,
“1 million naira.”
Uncle Chinwe stared in disbelief. “And what exactly do you do? Are you into yahoo yahoo?”
The boy replied confidently, “I’m an investor.”
Without saying much, Uncle Chinwe turned to his wife and called out,
“Baby M, come outside o. Our new breadwinner don arrive. Anybody who can use one million naira to buy a phone must be ready to pay rent, fuel the generator, buy gas, and provide three square meals for the whole house — including siblings.”
Moral of the story:
