Eight Guilty: Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Robbers Face Justice
On May 23, 2025, a Paris court found eight individuals guilty for their roles in the 2016 armed robbery of Kim Kardashian. Despite the severity of the crime, none of the convicted will serve additional prison time due to suspended sentences and time already served.
The ringleader, Aomar Aït Khedache, received an eight-year sentence, with five years suspended. Given his age and health conditions, he will not return to prison. Other defendants, including Yunice Abbas, who admitted to acting as a lookout during the heist, received similarly lenient sentences .
The robbery occurred in October 2016 during Paris Fashion Week. Kardashian was held at gunpoint in her luxury residence, tied up, and robbed of approximately $10 million in jewelry. The assailants, dubbed “grandpa robbers” due to their advanced ages, executed the heist in under 10 minutes. Only a diamond-encrusted cross has been recovered; the rest of the stolen items remain missing .
During the trial, Kardashian delivered emotional testimony, recounting her fear for her life during the ordeal. She expressed gratitude for the verdict and has since become an advocate for justice and privacy, significantly altering her public presence following the incident .
The court’s decision, influenced by the defendants’ ages and the time elapsed since the crime, has sparked discussions on the adequacy of the French justice system in handling high-profile cases involving serious offenses.
