Court Orders Chris Brown’s Release on Bail
Chris Brown has been released on bail after being charged with grievous bodily harm stemming from an alleged bottle attack at Tape nightclub in London in February 2023. The 36-year-old singer was arrested last week at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester upon returning to the UK ahead of his upcoming tour. He is accused of striking music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle and continuing the assault alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, also known as “HoodyBaby.”
Initially denied bail by Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Brown was granted conditional release on May 21, 2025, by Judge Tony Baumgartner at Southwark Crown Court. His bail terms include a £5 million security payment—£4 million paid immediately and an additional £1 million due within a week. He must reside at a court-approved UK address, surrender his passport (except for scheduled tour-related travel), and avoid contact with the victim, co-defendant, or the Tape nightclub.
These conditions allow Brown to proceed with his “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour, which kicks off on June 8 in Amsterdam and includes UK dates starting June 15 in Manchester. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 20 at Southwark Crown Court.
