CHINA FIRST ARTIFICIAL SUN

China’s “artificial sun” refers to its nuclear fusion research project aimed at replicating the energy process of the real sun. The most well-known of these projects is the EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak), located in Hefei, Anhui Province.

Key Points:

EAST is a tokamak reactor that uses magnetic fields to confine hot plasma and achieve nuclear fusion, the same process that powers the sun.

In recent tests, EAST has reached temperatures over 160 million degrees Celsius, which is more than 10 times hotter than the sun’s core.

The goal is to create clean, nearly limitless energy by fusing hydrogen atoms into helium, releasing energy in the process — without carbon emissions or radioactive waste like fission reactors.

China is also involved in ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), a global fusion project in France.

Let me know if you want updates on recent breakthroughs or how it compares to other countries’ fusion projects.
