2027 Elections: DSP Barau’s Bold Prediction for Tinubu, APC
Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the APC Northwest Zonal meeting convened by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Barau emphasized the importance of party unity and continued support for the president to ensure electoral success. He stated, “It is clear that in 2027, we are going to have a landslide victory, Insha’Allah.
This declaration comes amid significant political realignments within the country. Notably, support groups from the 2023 presidential campaign of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have defected to the APC. These groups, representing 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, cited President Tinubu’s policies and Senator Barau’s leadership as key factors influencing their decision. Barau welcomed the defectors, describing their move as a major boost for the APC.
Additionally, defections from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have further strengthened the APC’s position. Key figures, including the SDP’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Buhari and Kano State’s 2023 governorship candidate Bala Gwagwarawa, along with numerous local government officials and candidates, have joined the APC. Barau dismissed any attempts to challenge the APC through the SDP as “dead on arrival,” highlighting the party’s growing dominance .
These developments underscore a significant consolidation of political support for President Tinubu and the APC as they approach the 2027 elections.
