The statue, created by American artist Brad Downey, was installed in 2020 to replace a wooden version that had been set on fire by vandals earlier that year. The bronze statue depicted Melania Trump in a blue coat, similar to the one she wore at her husband’s presidential inauguration. It was mounted on a tree stump in a field near Sevnica .
On May 13, 2025, the statue was discovered missing, with only the severed base remaining. This incident marks the second time a statue honoring Melania Trump in Sevnica has been targeted; the original wooden statue was destroyed by arsonists in 2020 .
