JAMB candidates should visit support.jamb.gov.ng to rewrite exam
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced new provisions for candidates who missed the rescheduled 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) due to genuine reasons. Affected candidates are advised to raise a support ticket on the JAMB portal, explaining their reasons for missing the exam and indicating their preferred location for the make-up test.
To initiate this process, candidates should visit support.jamb.gov.ng, select “Quicklinks,” then “Ticketing/Support,” and choose “Exam Rewrite.” After entering their registration number, they can specify issues such as slip printing problems, center issues, or scheduling conflicts. JAMB has assured prompt responses to these tickets.
This development follows JAMB’s acknowledgment of technical errors during the initial UTME, which affected approximately 379,997 candidates across 157 centers, primarily in Lagos and the South-East. The errors were attributed to a failed software update that disrupted the uploading of candidates’ responses. Consequently, a resit was scheduled for these candidates between May 16 and May 18, 2025.
However, concerns have been raised regarding the selective nature of the resit, as reports indicate that candidates in other regions, such as Kano, Kebbi, and Sokoto, also experienced technical issues but were not included in the rescheduled exams. A law firm has petitioned JAMB, citing potential discrimination and requesting transparency in the selection process for the resit.
For candidates preparing for both the UTME resit and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), JAMB has coordinated with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to prevent scheduling conflicts, ensuring that students can participate in both examinations without overlap.
For further assistance or inquiries, candidates are encouraged to utilize the JAMB support portal or contact JAMB directly through their official communication channels.
